MySQL error database....?

I have just started using MySQL and would like to know if there is any MySQL error database around on the inernet, similar to the ones of Microsoft error dbs

The reason that I'm asking for this is that the syntax results in the newer version is very different to the older ones. I have obtained a courseware which is based on the version 3.23.33 and the one installed on my computer is v5.0.56. In the older version, inproper input with the syntax of tinyint and int zerofill will not gernerate any errors but the software will autoadjust the input instead, whereas in the newer version, inproper input of the syntax will generate the errors of 1064, 1264 or 1364 etc. This is a great improvement in that the software application to the highly law regulated industries will be more secure such as in financial and LIMS sectors in which software autoadjustification should not be allowed. My unsatisfaction with the newer version is that it does not have error db for me to find a quick solution. Thankfully, the errors mentioned above is not difficult to fix up if one is a bit of computer literatured. However, I'm sure when I continue to learn the MySQL, I will reach the stage where I'm not be able to fix the errors without detailed references. I hope the MySQL nurds would be able to grasp my point

Help with complex join mysql query

, I am hoping someone could help. I have the below sql which use to work but have recently upgraded my server to a new os and mysql 5 , php 5. I know it should not make a different but now my query does not work and I can not figure it out. Maybe I just have a type in my sql that I am not seeing. So here is what I am trying to do I have a employees table which lists which employees are active with us (not term'ed) and also a teams table which tells me which staff is assigned to which supervisor (supervisors swap team members ever other month or so) So the query is to take the highest assign_date from each team member that is assigned to a specific supervisor where the staff member is also still active with us. here is my query PHP Code: $month='2'; $year='2010'; $mygroupwiseid='jdoe'; SELECTteams.rep,teams.assign_dateFROM( \tSELECTrep,MAX(assign_date)ASassignment,\t \tEmployees.EmployeeStatusID,Employees.GroupwiseID \tFROMteams,EmployeesWHEREMONTH (teams.assign_date)

High load averages caused by mysql

I have a problem with my load averages on server. They go up to 12 and over. mysql is a cause, but I need some help in detecting why is this happening. This is high if you are doing a lot of table scans. Generally this suggests that your tables are not properly indexed or that your queries are not written to take advantage of the indexes you have. So I am going to check the indexing of tables. The biggest table has over 40,000 rows. I appreciate any suggestions and help.

Trying to get mysql join query to work

hello, What I am trying to do is connect to a class roster table and grab a specific classes roster and then connect to a staffing table and pull who is not listed in the class roster table which would ultimatly give me a list of who needs to be scheduled for a specific training. My issue is my join query does not work here is my code PHP Code: $croster=mysql_query("SELECTClass_roster.FirstName,Class_roster.LastName,Employees.FirstName,Employees.LastName,Employees.EmployeeStatusIDfromClass_roster,EmployeeswhereClass_roster.ClassID=6ANDClass_roster.FirstName=!Employees.FirstNameANDClass_roster.LastName!=Employees.LastNameANDEmployees.EmployeeStatusID=1"); while($classroster=mysql_fetch_array($croster)){ extract($classroster); echo"$FirstName$LastName"; when I try to run this in mysql I get this error PHP Code: #1064-YouhaveanerrorinyourSQLsyntax;checkthemanualthatcorrespondstoyourMySQLserverversionfortherightsyntaxtousenear'=!Employees.FirstNameANDClass_roster.LastName!=Employees.LastNameANDEmploy'atline1 however I dont see anything wrong with that section of my query\t as I am telling it to get the employees first and last name where the first and last name does not match whats in the class_roster table.

Errors in mysql tables; strugling to fix them

Hi all, I have been trying to move servers and during the move its now apparant some of my mysql tables are corrupted. This didn't happen during the move, the tables on the "old" server are corrupt. Strangely there is no problem running the application on the old server, but on the new server (which has mysql 5.1 rather than 5.0) its causing issues. So I need to fix the tables on the old server. Running myisamchk on the mysql database says some of the tables *.MYD aare not "myisam" tables and just repairds the *.MYI files (which i thought were just the index files) Then it also says: "Found block that points outside data file at 480" as well as various other numbers in a long list of similar messages on the user and proc tables. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Note that there does not appear to be any "corrupted" data as far as I can tell. Everything works spot on.

Website causing mysql queries to take too long

I have a website with MySQL running in the background of it at work that I have to use. But, it makes my queries run much longer than they should. I was just curious if this is a common issue while being on a website running mysql, or is it just a freak incedent in my case. This is the time for a procedure doing 1 select on 1 data base to run 2785 rows in set (0.03 sec) Query OK, 0 rows affected (2 min 19.00 sec) This is a normal run when the website is closed 2785 rows in set (0.02 sec) Query OK, 0 rows affected (7.56 sec) Any kind of suggestion of why it's happeneing would be appriciated. I can work around it, but I just want to know why it might be happening.

Storing mult-select form data in mysql

all. Here is the problem. I have an application with users. I need to put those people into groups. Right now I have a separate table full of the groups. I query the groups table to place all the data in the form. Then I need to place data in table called members which has all the members data in it. Right now I have 1 field holding all the group data. I serialize the group array and then unserialize it when I need to pull it out. It works but I there has to be an easier way or a more correct way. I am running into problems when I need to build an msyql query to find members based on which groups they are in and then execute a script based on the members group association. Here are some thoughts: Would it just make more sense to create a field in the members table for each group That would be a pain because the number of groups is constantly changing ... Pull in all the members into an array ... and the members groups then search through it building another array full of the members that meet the criteria ... Hopefully that makes sense. Let me know! Any idea's

Error with mysql syntax

I'm writing a PHP install script to port a database on to another server. The script keeps returning a mysql error at line 2, I suspect it's going to find errors all the way through but it's probably down to just one problem with my syntax that I've repeated. Here's a code sample: PHP Code: droptableifexists`users`;\t\t CREATETABLE`users`( `username`VARCHAR(30)NOTNULL, PRIMARYKEY(`username`), `password`VARCHAR(32), `email`VARCHAR(40) )TYPE=MyISAM; The error returned is: "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'CREATE TABLE users( `username` VARCHAR(30) NOT NULL,PRIMARY KEY (`username' at line 2"

But when I try "jdbc:mysql://./mysql" in java I get unknown host error. Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: . at java.net.Inet4AddressImpl.lookupHostAddr(Native Method) at java.net.InetAddress$1.lookupHostAddr(Unknown Source) at java.net.InetAddress.getAddressFromNameService(Unknown Source) at java.net.InetAddress.getByName0(Unknown Source) at java.net.InetAddress.getByName(Unknown Source) at java.net.InetAddress.getByName(Unknown Source) at com.mysql.jdbc.StandardSocketFactory.connect(StandardSocketFactory.java:243) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.(MysqlIO.java:284) ... 13 more

Libmysql.dll v5.1 memory leak

In working with large files and libmysql.dll (not libmysqld.dll) I am discovering that resources are not released when MySQL_Close() is called for the last thread. My Application reads from one table and writes to another using a single TRANSACTION. The target table size is about 600MB. Memory increases steadily up to about 1.2 GB as this process progresses, and is only released when the dll is unloaded from memory by closing the app. I have triple checked my application and it is not responsible. What could the dll be holding on to and how can I get it to release that memory if not a memory leak Kind

Help with this mysql query. is it possible?

hey, i have a small staff auction for work. here is the query: SELECT * FROM listing l, bids b, users u WHERE l.listingid=b.listingid AND u.username=b.buyer AND biddate = (SELECT MAX(biddate) FROM bids bi WHERE bi.listingid= b.listingid) AND l.enddate < NOW() + INTERVAL 8 HOUR this is good but some auctions may have many winners in buy now format. so therefore, because of the SELECT MAX(biddate) part, this is just bringing the last bidder (winner) in all auctions. however, its also selecting only one buynow who is the winner too but there are other winners in buynow. in this case, i added this to the query: OR b.format='buynow' Because i want it to select all the buynows as all buynows are winners but then only select the maxdate only for those in the bid format auctions. but when executed, it does what i want it to do but i selects all records due to the OR part. is there a way to optimise this so that it will select the max date for bid formats only and select all of buynow formats.\t
