Dispatching default application for file, cross platform.

How do I do the equivalent of clicking (in SuSe) or double clicking (in Windows) on a file In effect I want to tell the OS - take this file and feed it to the application that is registered for it. Not too sure what to Google for. - Hendrik

patching pylint.el

I think this is a bug of pylint.el. But I failed finding a way to submit the bug neither in its official site nor in google. So I post it here wishing it may be useful for some buddies. The bug is that it uses "compile-internal" from "compile" without require compile. So "M-x pylint" will fail if compile hadn't been loaded in advance by any means. My fix is rather straightforward: add "(require 'compile)" in the code. ------ begin diff output ------ 2a3 > (require 'compile) ------ end diff output ------ Fang lungang

ANN: Naja 0.9.3 patch

Naja is a freeware tool written in Python/wxPython. You can add some plugins (newsreader, client FTP, client WebDAV) and take the control on your downloads since your office. Naja supports proxy (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SOCKS v4a, SOCKS v5), and use some authentication methods. The downloading maybe achieved by splitting the file being downloaded into several parts and downloading these parts at the same time (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP). Donwload speeds are increased by downloading the file from the mirrors sites, when the sites propose it. Others features: Csv filter Cheksums (CRC32, MD5, SHA1) newsreader, newsposter (uue, yEnc) basic and digest authentication Web Interface This is a bug-fix release for Naja 0.9.3 that fixes yEnc module. It's available for download from the Keyphrene web site (patch_naja093.zip or patch_naja093.tar.gz): http://www.keyphrene.com/products/naja

Dispatch('Excel.Application') on Vista from Task Scheduler

I have a python script that runs fine from the command line or from within IDLE, but doesn't work through the Vista Task Scheduler. The script downloads some csv files and then uses pywin32 to combine the csv files into a single document. When I run it through the task scheduler, it downloads the csv files, but then doesn't seem to launch excel. I can't figure out what is wrong or how to add enough logging to tell. I'm using Python 2.6 and pywin32-212.win32-py2.6 on Vista. Code snippet below. Any ideas Does it have something to do with permissioning on Vista I'm running the task as my regular user (that has administrative privileges).

Re: [Python-Dev] Python 2.5.3: call for patches
