Help wth Net::FTP in script sometimes fails but wsftp always works

I have a script that transfers files from a Solaris server to target unix servers.\tThe script uses Net::FTP->put to write the files, which can be any number of files, not always the same.\tThis script works flawlessly to many servers.\t

Sometimes the 'puts' fail, not always on the same file.\tWhat is odd is I can transfer that file, and many others with ws-ftp from my PC.\tAny idea why that would be\tFirst I tried to set the buffer size in the ftp->new to the 4096 like wsftp, from the default 10240, but that didn't work.\t

I see in the doc about Net::FTP, there is a dataconn class.\tCan I use those commands without specifying any other class in the perl program\tThere is a "write ( BUFFER, SIZE [, TIMEOUT ] )" statement.\tI cannot find any more information about that, like what is the default BUFFER.\tCan I use it instead of 'put'

Data Structure help (hash/array)

I am comparing two different datasets and trying to come up with the best data structure. Data Set 1: For each record, I get a pair like this: $VAR1 = { 'TARGET' => '110974981305651', 'INTERNAL_ID' => '1000000000000005' }; $VAR2 = { 'TARGET' => '111053548637000', 'INTERNAL_ID' => '111053624881107' }; $VAR3 = { 'TARGET' => '111040401095000', 'INTERNAL_ID' => '111040426288012' }; Data set 2: For another record, I get a similar pair: $VAR1 = { 'Instanceid' => 58538, 'Interfaceid' => 52 }; $VAR2 = { 'Instanceid' => 407401, 'Interfaceid' => 55 }; $VAR3 = { 'Instanceid' => 58536, 'Interfaceid' => 69 }; $VAR4 = { 'Instanceid' => 263954, 'Interfaceid' => 692 }; My goal is to connect this above two dataset based on another dataset (link table) that looks like this: $VAR1 = { 'Interfaceid' => '52', 'TARGET' => '111053548637000' }; $VAR2 = { 'Interfaceid' => '55', 'TARGET' => '110974981305651' }; $VAR3 = { 'Interfaceid' => '69', 'TARGET' => '111040401095000' } The final output is to connect the internal id with the instanceid. How should I approach it I was thinking each dataset could of array of hash. --sharif

ActivePerl error message? Router script. Please help.Newbie

I have installed ActivePerl on Windows XP SP2 professional and have tried running a script to restart my router: it always gives out this message: Can't locate Net/Telnet.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:/Perl/lib C:/Perl/site/lib .) at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\perl\router.pl line 5. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\perl\router.pl line 5. By default ActivePerl has installed Perl has been installed C:/Perl I am running IIS. The examples given in activeperl say that "Note: the examples assume that PerlEx is installed on this machine, and that the address http://localhost/PerlEx/scriptname is valid." So I created a directory in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ called perl and copied and pasted all the files from C:/Perl into this directory in an attempt to get this localhost to work. I have been running my script in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\perl\ I've typed into Internet Explorer: http://localhost/perl/router.pl and get the above error. The script I have been trying to get to work is below: I also tried turning on the starting the telnet service XP but this didn't make any difference. *************************************************************** Here's some Perl that I've been playing with at home and at work (being diverted from seeing some friends on Saturday morning to detour into work to reboot the router provides an incentive to make sure the ADSL line stays up). Module naming help

I have written 2 modules which I intend to upload to CPAN. I have chosen the names "Class::MethodVars" and "Class::Framework", they would both be uploaded in Class-Framework-\t.\t.tar.gz unless anyone has better suggestions. The first currently called Class::MethodVars allows you to tag a sub with ":Method" and get access to "this" (in various configurable forms). Eg: package MyClass; use warnings; use strict; use Class::MethodVars qw( -fieldvars ),-field=>"internal_variable"; sub new :ClassMethod { return bless({},__CLASS__); # Class is provided my the magic of :ClassMethod } sub mymethod :Method { my ($arg) = @_; # Note that object has been removed from @_ this->{internal_variable}++; this->othermethod($arg); ${^_internal_variable}++; # This is an alias to this->{internal_variable} } "this" can be renamed and/or configured to be a variable (which is automatically added to "use vars" to remain strict-safe). The second module is currently called Class::Framework. It combines Class::MethodVars with fields (as in "use fields") and Class::Accessor to build an class for you. Eg: package MyClass; use warnings; use strict; use Class::Framework -fields=>qw( a b cde ), # creates with ->mk_accessors(qw( a b cde )); -rofield=>"rofield", # creates with ->mk_ro_accessors(qw( rofield )); -hiddenfield=>"hidden"; # No accessor created. # new() is inherited for you. sub concat_fields :Method { return join("",this->a,this->b,this->cde,this->rofield,this->{hidden}); } package main; my $mc = MyClass->new(a=>1,b=>2,cde=>3,rofield=>4,hidden=>5); print $mc->concat_fields; # Prints "12345" __END__ ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =----

help with module naming: filehandle-tie for size-limited/rotating logfile

I'm about to upload a module, the filehandle-tie for size-limited logs. I did not find existing module in cpan, so I wrote one. Please help me to select the right module name. I am thinking about name Tie::SizeLimitedLog or Tie::RotatingLog. The closest relative is the existing Tie::LogFile (except that Tie::LogFile does not have the size-limiting (rotating) functionality). Which name shall I choose

Need help on tk install via rpm

Howdy I am new to linux, and rpm, and following O'Reilly "Perl/Tk" samples. I am using FC4, and it loaded with perl version 5.8.6. rpm -q tk showed tk was not loaded, so I loaded tk.8.4.8.rpm from the DVD distro via rpm. When I try perl -e "use tk" to see if tk is working, I get Can't locate tk.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i38........etc..... What am I missing. Pointers would be appreciated so I can learn how to load stuff. tomy

Julian Date to Calender date conversion. Please help!

I am new to Perl, I am trying to convert Julian date to calendar date (day of the year). For example, 26711 corresponds to 24-Sep-2011. I tried two approach to this, none being successful. 1) I saw this code online, but this code returns wrong date. This code does not return 24-Sep-2011, instead returns 26-Sep-2011 (Which is wrong!) date_from_yday() { perl -e ' use Time::Local; $yr = $ARGV[0] - 1900; $yday = $ARGV[1]; $mytime = timelocal(1,0,0,1,1,$yr); $mytime += ( 86400 * $yday ); ($sec,$min,$hour,$day,$mon,$yr,$wday,$yday,$whocares) = localtime($mytime); $yr += 1900; printf("%02d/%02d/%d\n", $day, $mon, $yr); ' $2 $1 } date_from_yday 267 2011 ----------- 2) I tried connecting to oracle db and fetch the date. $RETVAL=`"select to_date(nvl(SUBSTR(126711 , 2 , 5) , '00179'), 'DDDYY') from dual" | $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus -L -S $CONNECT_STRING`; This gives me error saying "select to_date(nvl(SUBSTR(126711 , 2 , 5) , '00179'), 'DDDYY') from dual : not found". I know the connection string is correct because that is used by other queries in the script. Any help is appreciated. If there is a new approach to it, i can try that too. Please help ASAP.
